Halloween is a time for witches, ghosts, and haunted houses with spiders – though for digital marketers the focus is on Google & Bing’s houses and their search engine spiders. One way to reduce the effectiveness of “search engine spam” is with a nofollow tag or value. Some marketers disagree with the effectiveness of the use of nofollow values such as Loren Baker of Search Engine Journal who believe “spammers still spam” but it’s still a valuable tool available for Webmasters to direct search engine spiders.
