Remember the days when there were only 3 major channels on TV? What about a time before VCR’s when an audience had to watch a program at its regularly scheduled time. Today a TV viewer not only has multiple channel options, but also multiple screen options (or Second Screens). I recently took part in AMC’s Walking Dead Story Sync where viewers can use their computer/tablet/smartphone to answer trivia questions, join snap polls, and view exclusive video while watching the latest live episode on TV. AdWeek recently referenced research that shows 63% of tablet owners that multi-task are doing so watching TV. In the future when we sit down to watch TV we may all be reaching for our second screens before we reach for the remote.
