This weekend we will watch some of the great match-ups of the football season: the NFC vs the AFC, Doritos vs Ruffles, Pepsi vs Coke, and E-Trade vs GoDaddy. In the day of DVR’s and On-Demand not many audiences gather to watch a program live like they do the Super Bowl – so wherever there is a crowd, no far behind will be the advertisers. The other 364 days of the year we fast forward, groan, or walk out of the room when there are commercials; but during the Super Bowl we run football’s version of the reverse and actually look forward to the commercials. What happens when you miss you favorite program? You DVR it. What happens when you miss a commercial? That’s on demand as well courtesy of YouTube. So if you are one of those Super Bowl party-goers who say “I’m more interested in the commercials than the game” then grab your laptop instead of the remote and save yourself some heartburn.
