Somewhere between the morning coffee, shower, and breakfast many people sneak a peak at the local traffic report before heading out for the morning commute. A majority of the information comes from the local authorities and/or traffic helicopters covering the area, but how could you get more information faster? Crowdsourcing. Enter Google Maps and their latest acquisition, Waze. From Google themselves: “Users of Google Maps for Mobile will now benefit from real time incident reports from Waze users. This means when Wazers report accidents, construction, road closures and more on Waze, the updates will also appear on the Google Maps app for Android and iOS”. The next time you turn to the local news for the traffic report turn instead to Google Maps, just make sure you aren’t the accident!
